Fireside Cider
makes 5-6 servings
Ingredients
1 apple
4 cups apple cider
1 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 cinnamon sticks
10 whole cloves (or 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves)
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Garnish (optional): apple slices and cinnamon sticks
Instructions
Stud the apple with cloves, either pushed into the skin of a whole apple or into slices, then add all the ingredients into a large pot set over medium-low heat.
Bring to a gentle simmer, letting the spices mingle and deepen for 30–45 minutes.
Remove the apple and whole cloves, then ladle the cider into mugs. Garnish with a fresh apple slice and a cinnamon stick.
Spiced Citrus Mule
makes 2 servings
Ingredients
12 ounces non-alcoholic ginger beer
Blood orange juice- 3 oranges (or 1 cup juice)
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole star anise
1 orange
1 teaspoon whole cloves
Instructions
Slice the orange into two ¼-inch rounds and press a few cloves into each.
In a small saucepan, warm the ginger beer, orange juice, cinnamon, star anise, and clove-studded slices over medium heat.
Let it simmer for about 8 minutes, until hot and aromatic.
